Saskatoons – the next super fruit! Saskatoons have higher antioxidant levels than blueberries. Antioxidants are known to fight cancer and heart disease. They are also higher in fibre, manganese, potassium, iron, and calcium than blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. This fantastic super fruit is grown only in Western Canada. We have 5.5 acres of Northline Saskatoons which are known to have a large and flavourful fruit.
When looking for super fruits – those that are extremely high in antioxidants, it is important to look for a locally grown fruit. Each geographic region around the world has the foods necesary to support healthful living for its residents. When we take these food from other areas of the world, we are stripping those cultures of the foods they need to live a healthy life. Using our own, local foods is not only more earth-friendly, but also more neighbourly.
